North

Mark Stoner's North sculpture is located at the northern end of Moorabool Street, Geelong. Commissioned in 2000 the sculpture consists of seven sail-like panels over looking Cunningham Pier.

Walking around and through the individual pieces they evoke an architectural feel almost like someone has deconstructed the Sydney Opera House and placed the fins in an upright position. The pieces harmonise so well with the bay view, you almost except them to be gently bobbing up and down in sync with the water.

Created using earthy coloured cement panels, these upright segments have a detailed mosaic texture that creates a look of weathered rock emerging up from the walk-way below.
